An environmental analyst is asked by the police to determine if two deaths by hydrogen sulfide poisoning are an accident - or a murder. But when he meets a young woman at both sites, a scientific mystery begins.
Length 115 minutes
Would not have guessed that Takashi Miike directed this. Kinda reminds me of his God’s Puzzle, which also doesn’t look like his hand behind the camera. I do like this story however I think there’s a better movie in here had they tightened it up (down to 95min or so) to make for a taunt thriller rather than the meandering crime drama. There’s a subplot involving Tao Okamoto’s character that could be completely removed as it adds nothing to main story. There’s already plenty happening without the bizarre government men in black operative.
Oddly this dvd is a Malaysian release but hard to say if it’s legit. Came from the Evanston Library. Curious how that decision came to be and how they procured it.
