Viewing Notes

I see this DVD at the Dollar Tree a lot but never buy it but the other day I just decided to request it from the library to give it a whirl. First off, the cover art / poster art is so misleading. Honestly thought that Paz Vega was the assassin or was gonna be this badass woman looking for revenge. Something like that. Of course it’s not that all. She’s really the damsel in distress which is disappointing.

Also didn’t realize this was meant to be an action comedy flick. It’s not strong in either department and generally mean spirited as it works though all the usual story beats. The only character I cared about was Paz Vega’s character but they give her so little to do. And there’s really nothing to make me care about the other characters. Even the assassin’s redemption arc was silly.

They really could’ve used another comedy writer to punch up the humor if they were so set on it or just go full-on serious. I watched the BTS featurette which was more interesting than the movie but didn’t make me appreciate it more. I can’t believe they made a sequel to this!
