Second sports themed feature in Paul’s sports themed Kast viewing party. I was stoked when the film started b/c this cast is pretty great. Coburn and Culp plus Susan Anton? Also plenty of good character actors. Sadly the movie never really lives up to its cool premise. This scientist (Curd Jürgens) has been conditioning his daughter (Anton) to be a super athlete to compete in the Olympics. However, she never really seems like she’s all that great. Sure, she can run (and I commend Susan Anton for running so much during this movie) but she’s never really dominating. Plus there’s plenty of melodrama between her and her father and other athletes. The whole thing is very flat when it should be hella more exciting. Glad to have seen it but not one I’d recommend.
