Viewing Notes

Great to revisit this. When I last saw the movie it was from a crummy first gen dvd I got from Netflix. I recall wanting a better transfer and I think that was dubbed. Since that time Arrow Films did the work and that’s the version on Prime via Filmrise. Looks so good and the original Italian language is nice.  I contemplated getting this in the last Arrow sale and I probably should have. If it has a BTS feature on the finale it’s done deal.

Why I wanted to watch this now is bc the beautiful Barbara Bouchet stars (we last saw her as the opening kill in BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA). I like her role a lot here bc she’s not the sexpot she is the other films I’ve seen. Of course having Sybil Danning in support makes up for that.

All around a solid gialli film with a good mystery, cast and location. IIRC this was all shot in Germany. Plus I love the title! Probably the biggest weak area is the score. Really could’ve used a Goblin (Simonetti) or Stelvio Cipriani. Had me thinking during the film of how much better a good score elevates a film.
