Viewing Notes
Forgot how goddamn incredible this movie is. Basically John Woo’s Apocalypse Now. Was super thrilled when Mike decided to do another Projection Booth watch party for Sunday night (b/c Memorial Day tomorrow) and he programmed this as the middle film. This was the Mike White cut as he assembled it from a few different sources with different cuts of the movie. He also left it at the “man who would be king” ending, which is the right call.
Super sad I missed this @ MBT in 35mm a few years ago. Just a gangbusters movie. It’s gonna take some strength to suppress the desire to revisit Woo’s catalog now. And there’s still many of his I haven’t seen.
