Viewing Notes

This was the first feature film for Tokusatsu Night on DKUTV. I originally saw this 4 years ago at G-Fest. Still amazed that they screened this at the Pickwick and we could see this on the big screen. I believe it was bc Bin Furuya (original Ultraman) was a guest that year and he also has a bit part in this movie.

There is a lot to love in this movie and yet it’s a dizzying maelstrom of battles; literally one fight after another of all sorts. Kaiju vs kaiju, Ultras vs Ultras. The main plot is that Ultraman Belial has been broken out of space jail and destroys the Spark Tower that gives life to the Ultra planet, M85, I think. Belial is like Spider-man’s Venom both in look and attitude. Most of the Ultras get frozen so it’s up to the return of Dyna and a few others to stop Belial and save the Ultra planet.

On one hand I’m happy that they give the goods, all the fights and battles. On the other hand, it’s diminishing returns after seeing so much of it. So much. By the end I am tired of seeing it and would like a pause and some interaction.
