Viewing Notes

I like this, a delightful yet anxiety inducing coming-of-age road movie featuring a teenage girl who travels to Bosnia to see her father one last time. It becomes a quiet adventure that starts with her locked suitcase then her journey is highlighted by the people she meets along the way. It’s as though she knows what she wants and yet doesn’t know where each decision will take her next. She just wants to stay on course and maybe figure out some things along the way.

I didn’t know this was directed by a woman but early on I suspected as much. Just how this character is framed the camera isn’t leering yet captures the sensuality of this young woman as well as her frustrations. It’s a beautifully photographed film.
