Viewing Notes

Missed this at Windy City Horrorama last year so I was happy when I saw it available on Prime. Didn’t realize this was a Christmas horror movie (set during Christmas but not about anything to do w/the holiday) so I’d be up for revisiting in December.

I like the setup for the premise but the movie flirts a little with being a horror comedy but it’s not that. So the tone is a bit uneven. Would’ve preferred they just played it straight all the way through and perhaps that might have given the witches more of a scare factor. The witches are pretty cool but undermined by some of the silliness. I really Elyse Dufour and hope she does more horror work. They photographed her well w/the right lighting. In fact, I’m impressed as this really does appear to be an actual home used (can’t imagine this low budget flick getting a soundstage).

Overall, this is enjoyable and would’ve been fun to watch with a festival crowd.
