Viewing Notes

This was the first short film in the Horrible Imaginings block of the LockdownCon Film Festival which started today and is live streaming all weekend.

This stop motion animated short is really neat. It starts like a funhouse ride would at a carnival attraction then morphs into a haunted house that turns into a castle. It reminds me a lot of the olde timey weird coin operated horror gizmos at House of the Rock. Like that kind of aesthetic with the skeletons and demons and apparitions. Also has a really great score.

What I didn’t know until I added this title to TMDb is that this short took over 10 years to complete. The director has done mostly sound work (soundtrack, composer, etc) on films so that explains the excellent score. With any stop motion project it is time intensive and this truly was the case with this short film. I dunno if the entire film is available online but it would be a good one to show at a movie night.
