Paris, 1900: a couple are horribly murdered by a masked man with a metal claw who rips their hearts out. The sole survivor and witness to the massacre is a young girl. Twelve years later in Rome a new wax museum is opened, whose main attractions are lifelike recreations of gruesome murder scenes. A young man bets that he will spend the night in the museum but is found dead the morning after. Soon, people start disappearing from the streets of Rome and the wax museum halls begin filling with new figures…

Holy crap do I love this movie!! It’s so batshit and hardcore and set in a wax museum, which I love. This really surprised me. I was not keen on the dubbing but it was a minor distraction. IIRC there’s tidbit about this in that middling FULCI FOR FAKE doc that mentions that Argento in mending his relationship w/Fulci had convinced him to direct this. Sadly he passed away before that could happen but he did work on the screenplay / story with Dario. And this totally feels like a Fulci joint, another reason to love it.
