Viewing Notes

Super convoluted yet meta as all get out. This movie is a fucking blast! Love love love seeing all the heisei Riders battle together.

The story is whack. A teen who worships the Kamen Riders but knows they aren’t real gets a wish from an Imagin and wishes the Riders to be real. So they start appearing. But there’s a bigger plot about an super villain that goes back in time to the beginning of the heisei period (January 2000) to kidnap a little kid that will result in the heisei Riders never happening, all 18 series of them! Obtw, the little kid is also the older brother of the teen that doesn’t believe the Riders are real but wished them into existence. Whew

This plotting hurts the movie but fortunately seeing all these Riders appear and battle more than makes up for it. That final battle is epic. I literally clapped during the entire end credits as they showed images from each heisei Rider series thru the years.

This was a Shout Factory / Nerdist special premiere celebrating the launch of the KR line at Shout. I believe they are releasing this movie soon and decided to coincide this special broadcast for KaijuCon.Line.

If I had a ton of disposable cash I’d totally collect all the SH Figuarts of all the Kamen Rider series. I’ve seen stores in Japan with most of them on display and they are really neat. I bought a loose one for the bargain price of $25 but new in the box they are $50 on up. That’s pricey when you consider how many total Kamen Riders there are. This movie featured around 30 or so? That’s just the Heisei series. Of course if I just loaded I’d get all the 1/6 figures.
