This is a very good movie that I would not want to revisit. Gave me anxiety! It’s a cautionary tale about not always knowing what is going on with other people yet judging them based on your own bias. This is listed as an indie comedy on the Japan Cuts site (and listed as a comedy on TMDb) but this is not a comedy. Sure, there are some humorous moments but this is really a drama about a mother trying to regain her popularity as a writer and neglects her 6yo daughter to do so. She gets into a fight w/her neighbor and decides to exploit the situation.
Oh there’s also an aspect of this that teeters on horror and really freaked me out. Like, it was difficult to watch. So yeah this is not a comedy but a very good and very sad drama about consequences for bad behavior.
