RIP Kelly Preston (October 13, 1962 – July 12, 2020)
When the news of Kelly Preston’s passing hit I added this to my queue as another film to view to celebrate her life. Still a tragic loss at only 57 years old. This is a movie that always seemed to be on cable back in my road warrior days in the early 90s. Never managed to catch the whole movie from the beginning but definitely saw a lot of the chases and all that running. Distinctly remember that greyhound race track and the ending.
If I had to guess the year this was released I would’ve said 1990 b/c it has elements that feel like 80s but also a 90s vibe. It really is astonishing how much Vancouver can look like any city. Overall this is an entertaining movie and Dempsey is good as the law student on the run from this local mafia. Despite not getting a whole to do, Kelly Preston is beaming as usual and provides a fun interlude segment between all the running.
I was a big fan of Dempsey’s late 80s / early 90s output (I watched LOVERBOY and CAN’T BUY ME LOVE so many times!). I remember seeing MOBSTERS in the theater when I lived in West Virginia. Wouldn’t mind revisiting all of those now.
