Had this been in black & white it would fit snuggly with the Nikkatsu film noir output at the time. Such a serpentine plot surrounding the blueprints for an energy efficient car with the entire cast hamming it up. I love this movie and wish it would get a restored release here. I dunno if Makato Sato had any other leading man roles but he should’ve because he’s so great here (he’s usually a solid supporting character actor in the majority of Toho films I’ve seen w/him). I totally did not recognize Mie Hama on this viewing until the end. It’s kinda hilarious that Akihiko Hirata has an almost blink and you’ll miss cameo in this.
