Viewing Notes

An impulse grab off the new release shelf. Reminds me a lot of the Mythica series of films, which I really like, but this is not very good. Doesn’t help that it’s doing mostly table setting to establish a greater story arc but we only get a piece of it here and a few bursts of action. I do like the characters however the Christian themes embedded within the tale feel shoehorned like “we are making a religious film with swords and sorcerers but hey what does the scripture say?” Doesn’t really work all that well.

I did watch the entire behind-the-scenes making-of featurette which was around an hour or so. It starts way before even pre-production and goes all the way to the end of principle photography. It’s way more interesting to see all that than watch the actual finished film. They go through the casting, costuming, location logistics, green screen stuff, and make-up/FX. All neat to see for an indie fantasy adventure project.
