A candidate in a game show is hunted by three men. He will get a Million DMark, if he survives for a week; the hunters will get the money, if they can kill the candidate. The audience of the show is watching the transmissions of twenty camera teams filming the hunt. The showmaster appeals to the TV-viewers to help either the candidate or the hunters, whomever they want.

Kinda like the Most Dangerous Game mashed up with the Running Man. The game show bits w/the musical numbers and the commercials are the best things in the film. The actual “hunt” for the man isn’t so interesting until the very end.
Listed as action but there’s really not that much action. It’s an obvious satire for consumerism and extreme game show culture (rather prescient, too, given when this was made) so not sure why this isn’t listed as a comedy.
Update: viewed THE PRIZE OF PERIL immediately following this which is also adapted from the same book written by Robert Sheckley. Each film approaches the story from different angles yet retains the main game show premise including the musical numbers.
