Viewing Notes

Kicked off my FF2020 with this title back from FF2015 and was part of the freebie six-pack of films offered by Alamo On Demand for the virtual “Celebration of Fantastic Fest” this year since the actual film festival was cancelled due to the pandemic. Perfect film to kick off this year’s virtual fest!

This is absolutely a FF movie in every way and now I regret skipping it back in 2015. I honestly did not realize that *this* was the premise; I thought it was some “brothers hijinks” comedy that oh just happens to star Mads Mikkelsen (was he a guest that year??). It just didn’t sound like something I had to see at FF but damn this would’ve been a blast with a FF crowd. Now I get why the fest was spotlighting it that year.

Such a delightfully unsettling and bizarre film with a few LOL moments. Terrific acting from everyone and a good mystery. Love the set design and set dressing. I haven’t heard anything about this movie since FF so I wonder if it had a physical media release here.—> just checked the InterLoan and there is a Blu and DVD in the system! Crazy. I’m surprised I hadn’t gotten to this one sooner.

It’s cool that FF2020 offered up the six-pack of random previous FF titles but I wished they had done it a little sooner rather than 2 days before the actual virtual fest. That said, of the six I’ve already seen all of them except for this one so I guess it doesn’t really matter in my case but it may have been beneficial to others.

Update: adding this to my FF2020 event since it’s a FF selection. Any other previous FF I happen to view during this event I will also include.
