This was the big feature film for Friday evening but due to a conflict w/the TR TV watch party I did not view this live w/the FF crowd. Not that it would’ve mattered bc I wouldn’t have bothered with the live chat anyways.
This film falls snuggly within that rural lower class familial thriller with distinct shades of WINTER’S BONE and maybe a little DONNYBROOK, to name a couple films sharing similar tones. This isn’t quite as a good as WB but more in line w/DB for comparison. Bella Thorne is p good as the titular girl unraveling her past on vengeance trip to face her father. Mickey Rourke is fun b/c he’s just a natural in this role as the big bad. Overall, a solid FF type flick.
I watched the Q&A w/the director which was moderated by Logan. Nothing terribly revealing about the filmmaking and process but a discussion.
