Viewing Notes

Always thought I had seen this but nope! Glad DKUTV programmed it (along w/Kuroneko and Hausu) for tonight’s Halloween schedule. This is a weird early tokusatsu horror flick. A doctor takes his sick wife back to her Kyushu hometown to live in a haunted mansion (they didn’t know it was haunted) to recover. She sees an old lady evil spirit so the doctor goes to a Buddhist priest to get the backstory.

The current day 1950s story is b&w… well tinted blue but the flashback story to the 1800s is in color. And that’s really the main story here; how this evil curse came to be. It’s a wild tale about a murdered samurai and his blind lover. It gets a little goofy here but still fascinating. Then story flips back to the present and is neatly wrapped up. Decent flick!
