Viewing Notes

Third movie that Mike programmed in this weekly Kast watch party. I didn’t want to miss this one bc it recently screened on TCM Underground but couldn’t view it bc I didn’t have that channel anymore. Heard this was pretty nuts and it is crazy, mostly not in a good way but certainly a fascinating “bad movie” with a parade of cameo appearances.

Four young men are recruited (abducted) to become a formulaic pop rock band yet serve as government operatives to infiltrate Albania and rescue a group of celebrities kidnapped by the military. It’s part spy spoof and part rock band spoof both of which were popular at the time so why not mash them together for one even worse movie.

It’s very silly but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t entertained. Made for good late dinner viewing. It was wild when Richard Pryor appears for about 10 seconds.
