DKUTV holdover that I finished on Prime (actually just started it over) bc I needed a break during their Xmas animated film marathon last night. This is a wild film that feels more like a mashup of Return to Oz and Alice in Wonderland (not sure I even know what the real Nutcracker story is despite having seen various incarnations of it). Christopher Lee does a few voices which is p cool. This Japanese production feels very influenced by the Rankin Bass stop motion films, very similar style here. I like how dark this gets with the main rat villain threatening to kill the girl and her doll.
