Viewing Notes

Anthology Film Archives had a special event for Black Taiwan Movies, the filmmaking period of the late 1970s into the early 80s, that they offered for free on their site. Despite not really having the time to consume these films I decided to jump in during the final days of the event to view these films which I may not be able to see anywhere else.

Figured I’d start w/the documentary to get a better handle on this period of filmmaking in Taiwan. Was very cool to hear these filmmakers and critics discuss this specific time but having not seen the films they discuss it was a tad overwhelming. After watching a few of the movies I came back to this doc to rewatch the segments where the films were discussed. Made the overall appreciation of the movies much better.
