Viewing Notes

Set in Brazil yet there’s a scene where Dr. Ann is escaping the marauding warriors and she sees a couple of male lions fighting… ? Otherwise a solid Tarzan flick where he gets to swing through a jungle when most of the sets are on flatlands. The evil marauders are led by a cult-like tribal lord that somehow speaks perfect English. I know, I know.

Hard to believe Mike Henry was only 31 years old when this movie was released. He looks older (most men did back then). I do like that his Tarzan is in a suit and tie for the opening sequence (when he learns about the Jaguar cult in Brazil) before he leaves for the jungle adventure in just his loin cloth. Like why can’t he just dress jungle appropriate? Seems like he’d be better protected.

RIP Mike Henry (Tarzan) and Diana Millay (Dr. Ann) who both passed away on the same day, January 8, 2021—the reason I originally requested this movie.
