Viewing Notes

This was the second biggest surprise of the TRR “Choose Your Own Movie Marathon” event. Deodato is hit or miss for me but this one is really wild and a lot of fun (also similar to his later THE WASHING MACHINE in tone and style). A lot of this looks like an 80s music video, i.e. lots of smoky atmosphere and running and emoting and while running.

Charlotte Lewis is the beautiful young woman in the middle of these mysterious calls and does a p good job of carrying the movie despite how ridiculous it is (the premise is a little like Maximum Overdrive but only with phones). Kinda stunned that she’s exactly my age almost to the day.

The last Deodato film I watched was THE WASHING MACHINE and that was also at a TRR event pre-pandemic! I’d like to own both of these films on a good home video release.
