Viewing Notes

Really dug this but can totally understand why it’s not doing well at the box office. Reminds me of the type of science fiction that we’d get in the 1970s like SILENT RUNNING. The first chapter is a tad rough and had me wondering if I truly wasted my money and time at a matinee* for this movie. That cold open isn’t bad but this movie really drops the viewer into this story forcing you to just figure it out. Not a bad thing but can see how it would be a turnoff for most. Plus the premise is way out there and I don’t think the average mainstream person wants to buy into that.

Once it gets rolling the movie becomes an entertaining throwback to those fun sci-fi stories we used to see. I like Tom Holland a lot but it’s Daisy that really shines. Mads is great as usual. I’d absolutely watch this again.

*one bonus to this not performing well is getting a private screening on the third largest screen at my local AMC. That was nice.
