Viewing Notes

This is not as bad as the poor ratings suggest (both IMDb and TMDb) but I can understand why this would earn such low ratings. This is some way out there wild ass shit. Max Zhang stars as the fiery detective that is always in trouble with his superiors and sporting a fake mustache and goatee for half the movie. Things happen and he’s investigating a serial killer. This leads him to an old frenemy MMA champ Anderson Silva. Fights ensue including an all-too short exchange between Zhang and Juju Chan on a moving train. But that’s not even half of it. This kind of crazy HK action insanity reminds of the 90s flicks but here it’s just too weird and out of place. As goofy as this movie is I would watch it again. In fact, I’d get the blu if it were available. Esp. to view that train sequence many times (I did watch a couple times on this viewing). I just dig Juju Chan. Also Annie Liu has a fun supporting role despite not getting a whole lot to do in it but even that gets really weird during a certain sequence. So many bizarre choices, Fruit Chan!
