Directed by Kaare Andrews

Overview

Special Ops sniper Brandon Beckett is set up as the primary suspect for the murder of a foreign dignitary on the eve of signing a high-profile trade agreement with the United States. Narrowly escaping death, Beckett realizes that there may be a dark operative working within the government, and partners with the only person whom he can trust: his father, legendary sniper Sgt. Thomas Beckett. Both Becketts are on the run from the CIA, Russian mercenaries, and a yakuza-trained assassin with sniper skills that rival both legendary sharpshooters.

Viewing Notes

Requested this movie for one reason: Sayaka Akimoto, the former AKB48 member that became an actress. Here she’s a hired assassin apparently trained by yakuza, which is very amusing if you know anything about yakuza. Not only is she an elite sniper but also trained in hand to hand combat. After seeing her in this she definitely should be included in the league of lady assassins movie with Julie Estelle and other Asian woman already. Sayaka is the best thing in this movie and it’s cool that she’s second billed. Wish she had more screentime / was utilized more.

The movie is merely okay and follows a similar plot to the last Olympus Has Fallen flick. Main dude is setup then tries to clear his name by finding the real person behind a political assassination. This movie relates to the other Sniper films bc he’s Tom Berenger’s son. The story is too convoluted for its own good but the main cat & mouse plotting is standard stuff.

Only worth viewing for the few moments we get with Sayaka.
