Viewing Notes

to celebrate the return to Before Times and the one year anniversary of TRR-TV, Coffman rented a screen at Davis Theater to present this movie for his movie friends. Although the theater (screen 1) isn’t the biggest it was still pretty packed w/many of the usual faces that have attended his events in the past. I was thankful to be double-vaxed in this situation!

It’s been 10 years since I’ve seen this and it felt like I was viewing it for the first time (my notes from my previous viewing also indicate that I apparently didn’t recall much of it by the time I logged it). I’ll blame my terrible memory but it was fun to experience in a theater with a bunch of folks who enjoy this kind of dopey DIY regional filmmaking. I sat a seat removed between Paul Freitag-Fey and Matt Wedge, so it was nice to see them in-person for the first time in over a year. Also caught up with Matt Storc and Ashley Nickell (from Windy City Horrorama) and got to lament the cancellation of their film fest. Still no concrete plans for their next fest.

Of course it was nice to see Neil Calderone and talk about a variety of things incl. his plans to show one of his 35mm at MBT every month. Too bad I won’t be around for those. Finally got my raffle prize (2 Henrique Couto DVDs) from the TRR-TV marathon last year that Jason had held for me (and returned two DVDs I had borrowed from him). So hopefully I won’t forget what happens in this movie after having this fun experience.

After the screening I walked around the nearly desolate Lincoln Square area taking it all in as it’s probably the last time I’ll be down there for a long while.
