Viewing Notes

Final film in the “lucky stars” trilogy featuring three of the seven little fortunes but the first true sequel of the lot. Sibelle Hu returns to guide the five ex-cons but Rosemund Kwan gets the unfortunate assignment that Hu had in the previous movie and is treated rather unfairly w/a similar bit that grows tiresome quick. So weird that Sammo decided to do basically the same bit in this movie. The story and setpieces are all over the place in this movie like a wardrobe of mismatched clothes. Some of it is really great, particularly the fight sequence w/Chan, Biao and Lau against the likes of Dick Wei and others.

The use of Kurata and Richard Norton as assassins was more comical than effective but fun nevertheless. Amusing to see Shaw Brothers regular Kara Wai in a throwaway role but this movie is a parade of familiar faces including Michelle Yeoh as a judo instructor and Moon Lee just appearing at the end finale for no reason.
