Viewing Notes

downloaded to my phone via MUBI in anticipation of not having any wifi, which really sucks beyond the inability to view things. anyways, a little surprised the downloaded version was so muddy like a sub-SD quality that barely looked decent on my phone. That was disappointing. I may view this again on my HDTV when I get back b/c it really is a beautiful yet somber film capturing these little corners of Akihabara and Tokyo in this split screen format.

I wanted to view this one again before watching other Edmund Yeo films I d/l because this is the one that started it all for me and my (online) friendship with Edmund. I met him via Twitter and have been following his rise in the Malay film industry. Was so impressed w/this short film so I was happy that he continued to make movies and flourish on the Asian film festival circuit.

It’s amusing now bc I was the one who added this title to TMDb back in the day and it was the first title of Edmund’s to be listed in the database. Now he has 21 credits listed! :)

update: in my previous notes i wrote “Normally I wouldn’t tally a short film but at 25 minutes and utterly brilliant and poignant, it deserves to be tallied.” LOL

Also Luchino is 42 years old now?!?! Damn. I love her and wish she had gone on to do more films. She’s so good here and in Hellevator.
