Viewing Notes

Since my A-List was reinstated I decided on another adventure and visit an AMC Theatre I haven’t been to yet. That was a wild experience bc that area, Westminster, was all new to me and very confusing. It’s a different Westminster than the Westminster I’m familiar with so yeah. It’s like there’s two Westminsters here.

Anyways, since I originally saw this movie at a standard cinema with no frills (no IMAX or Dolby) I figured a view in IMAX would be nice (plus there wasn’t anything else showing that I wanted to see at this theater). Can’t say it improved my opinion of this mostly awful movie but it did look and sound good. Maybe it was more palatable since I knew what to expect. During the flashback sequences I left to use the restroom. This theater, AMC Orchard, still has the old seating like AMC Village Crossing and AMC Showplace back in my old hood.

Amusing that I’ve seen this twice now but the previous two installments only once. And I probably dislike this one the most. Things I still find funny is that on the first mission to investigate the plane crash Dom still has a muscle car in the fucking jungle. And of course his brother does, too. The return of Han seems like such a non-event even tho I still like the Tokyo scene despite the women leaving their barely touched ramen on the table.

The brother stuff is still so damn dumb. I think it’s also hard to buy Cena as a bad guy. It feels like an act. What really drops the floor from this story is that Mr Nobody never bothered to mention to Dom that he was working with his brother all that time? Okay. Or that Han was still alive. Okay. Just dumb dumb dumb.

I’d love for the sequels to rein it in and make it a smaller affair with less stakes. And officially kill Brian altho I heard they are bringing that character back somehow. Yikes! The fact that Charlize Theron’s character is still alive leads me to think she will remain and christ I hope they don’t make her do a 180 and be on their side. I like her but really wish she was done w/all of this. I’d like to see Han and Shaw make-up and be a side quest spin-off.
