Trying to get to all of Edmund Yeo’s films currently available in the MUBI archive. Edmund was one of the first ppl I followed on Twitter back in 2009 when he was promoting this early short film. I wasn’t able to view it then but I continued to follow his career as he blossomed into a major South Asian filmmaker.
Tho rough around the edges this short film offers a glimpse of what kind of storytelling Edmund would gravitate towards; drama with a dark or gray undercurrent. This short film reminds me of Maddie Do’s work in the same way. I felt sad for the young girl who has no idea why things must be taken away from her.
