Viewing Notes

Finally knocked this one off my blindspot / wishlist that was in the same category as LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR, a movie that was always on HBO back in the day that is no longer available in any format to view today. I thought that Shout Factory was going to do a release but learned upon this viewing that it was cancelled.

This isn’t a particularly good movie but it certainly is a fascinating movie to watch esp. for Bruce Dern’s mentally unstable character falling for Maud Adams for no real reason other than she’s beautiful. I give a favorable rating for capturing that seedy quality of NYC at the time and all the wonderful tattoo art (both real and fake). Also, I like the photo shoot w/the sailors! At this point the film has a bigger reputation than its quality warrants but like GOODBAR it’s likely due to its unavailability. If this were to get a good release someday I’d probably get it.
