Viewing Notes

Not a good movie but a full point bump for Jet Li’s skills. This was the second film in our SC marathon and Ron’s pick since he had recently gotten the new Blu from 88 Films. I’m always game for a Tsui Hark joint, esp. one I haven’t seen. I think I know why I haven’t seen this one or why it’s been unavailable for so long. It’s just not a good crossover film for all parties. The racial stereotypes and mean spirited tone w/bizarre plotting really drown the otherwise good action sequences.

I haven’t seen every Tsui Hark film but I’ve seen enough to place this one at the bottom of the pile.
