Was finally able to view this one via the Cinephobe broadcast in the wee hours this morning. Been wanting to view this since I “watched” that Director’s Commentary of this film back at Stanley Film Fest in 2015. That was a bit challenging to follow since I hadn’t seen the movie at that time.
Watching this movie now it’s hard to imagine that it was such a fiery production. Then again it could’ve been entirely fabricated for that “commentary track” presentation I saw at Stanley. This version of The Modern Prometheus is more sedate yet a sardonic take on the story w/a mean-spirited creature portrayed by Per Oscarsson. Not a very good movie but certainly a fascinating one to watch for the retelling of this classic story. Also, I believe this film heavily influenced Kenneth Branagh’s 1994 adaptation (still wild to me that Robert De Niro signed on to be the monster).
