Another unusual find on Netflix from Shaw Brothers that is part of the Shaw films expiring soon. Unusual b/c it’s a RomCom and very few if any haven’t gotten decent releases unlike the kung fu and action films. Also wild b/c I didn’t recognize any of the actors involved altho I should’ve picked up on Olivia Cheng since she’s prominent in Sammo Hung’s MILLIONAIRE’S EXPRESS.
Anyways, this is a frustrating movie due to the premise. Here you have a gorgeous young woman (Cheng) who can’t keep a boyfriend b/c she does make-up for dead people at a funeral home in Macau. Finally she meets a guy (the virgin) and gets married. But he eventually learns of her past and wants nothing to do with her. Realizing that this is steeped in Chinese culture I get the joke here but damn is it ever aggravating.
