Viewing Notes

I like this movie! Modeling film noir adds to the cheesiness which really worked on me. I kept envisioning this story told much simpler, in black&white w/a much lower budget and it still would mostly work. Obvs the memory machine could be replaced by a hypnotist or something. It’s a funny movie b/c the protag is a mark from the beginning and you know it b/c you watch a lot of film noir so the mystery isn’t his mystery but why he’s the mark, which I dig.

The multiple ending is dumb. Would’ve def preferred something more noir-ish there where it just ends.

Oh I love Daniel Wu’s character! Not crazy about as a villain but it’s nice when he pops up in a Hollywood film.
