Overview

Duke Togo (codename: Golgo 13) is a ruthless assassin who’s accepted a tricky assignment from an American drug syndicate. His mission is to “rub out” Hong Kong’s underworld kingpin. Been wanting to watch this one for a long while so I was happy when I saw DKU had it programmed for their Sonny Chiba tribute weekend. This is quite the jetsetting adventure! Starts in Miami then zooms to HK then to Tokyo briefly before visiting Kyoto then back to HK! Chiba is p good as Golgo based on the anime versions I’ve seen. I love Sue Shihomi in this and find it so wonderful that she’s in so many of Chiba’s films as if he requested that she be in his movies even if it’s a small part. She’s an ass-kicking detective in this.

The general story is a bit goofy but makes up for it with all the cool location hopping. This would be a great one to own on an updated Blu-ray.
