Viewing Notes

For October DKUTV is doing a couple of Keita Amemiya nights. Caught the rebroadcast of this when I got home from Ron’s. Really, really, really wish Arrow would put out these two films on Blu. There must be a reason why we haven’t gotten them. I know MediaBlasters released a DVD quality Blu in the states for this film but I’m not interested in that. I want a restored HD quality release. Thinking about asking Adam (Third Window) if he knows what’s up bc all these early Amemiya films haven’t gotten releases.

This story is more silly than the previous film but I love all the FX and costumes and action here. This was only Yuko Moriyama’s second film (after doing the first ZEIRAM) bc she really loved the character so much and I guess Amemiya encouraged her. A bit sad that she only worked during the 1990s then basically retired. Probably decided to marry and have kids but there’s really no info on her post 2000. What’s funny about these Zeiram films is that they are basically nerd wish fulfillment (for Japanese otaku); the attractive woman who kicks ass shows up to save the nerds.

Yuko is also a 1968 baby so I’m really curious what she’s doing now.
