Viewing Notes

Was checking out the Kino Cult app via Roku and they have a channel dedicated to Mario Bava films, as they should since Kino Lorber has released many of them on DVD/Blu. Coincidence bc I was looking at this title the other day when I was surveying Bava films I hadn’t seen and noted that this one wasn’t available via streaming. But yes it is via Kino Cult so I just started it up since it’s a Bava I have not seen.

Bad news. This is not good. For a short runtime it’s almost interminable and I just wanted it to end. For a “sex comedy” it’s neither sexy nor humorous. Decided to just make a “Rashomon” tag bc this is another one of those movies and I feel like I’ve seen a few of them now. This date night is told from four different ppl of how things went down.

I suppose it deserves a few partial points for the seventies fashion and J&B and general look & feel. The young woman Tina (Daniela Giordano) is pretty (reminds me a little of Caroline Munro) so it’s got that going for it. But nothing else really. I very much wanted this to get weird and turn into a giallo or something. Also the homophobia is out of place and unnecessary.
