Viewing Notes

This was the second movie in my double feature at Century Boulder. I didn’t know this was a thing (Fathom Events celebrating the 1000th episode of One Piece) until I saw it mentioned in my TL. So glad I caught that and was able to see this movie b/c it’s definitely one of the better One Piece films (of the three I’ve seen). And unlike ONE PIECE 3D that preceded it, this was done in the usual 2D cel animation style of the tv series. That was a relief b/c I was worried while viewing ONE PIECE 3D.

The only downside of watching this is that this story occurs around halfway into the series continuity so there are characters I’m still not familiar with since I am woefully behind in viewing the episodes. Didn’t detract from how awesome this movie is but did make me wish I had more knowledge on certain characters. This is one I will revisit once I reach that point in the ongoing story.

Also weird that on this day Netflix announced the live action cast for the upcoming One Piece feature (or series?). Looks interesting. Very curious how this will translate to live action since it’s so fantastical.
