I Like Life a Lot (1977)

Directed by Kati Macskássy

Animation | Documentary | Short

Overview

The Komló settlement was a typical example of how Roma labour was exploited in the 1970s industrial mass production. This collaboration of Roma pupils and their teachers portrays the children’s everyday lives through their own drawings, often translating cruel facts into fairytales.

Viewing Notes

Dark animated documentary created by children in a remote village in Hungary. Wow they tell some sad true stories about their lives and animate it with their own drawings. It’s amazing. This was in the seventies so I would’ve been around the same age. Wish I could’ve had this kind of project!
