Viewing Notes

I don’t wanna classify this as a comedy but it kinda is with its dry humor and flipping the chanbara subgenre on its ear.

This was programmed by DKUTV Yuriko Hoshi week but since it was available via HBO Max I viewed it there since I knew it would be a better quality presentation. I’ve had a cope of this for years and I dunno why I haven’t watched it but glad I did tonight bc this is a Nakadai tour de force. Great role that you’re never sure what’s going on with him. Funny that Hoshi is either second or third billed but really plays a small supporting character yet significant. I just really like the bond between the two main male leads.

This is one that criterion needs to release on Blu as a standalone with a bunch of extras and a good commentary.
