Viewing Notes

So very my thing that I’m angry I sat on this for so long! Got the Blu from a giveaway back when the movie was released from Twitch Film (now Screen Anarchy), I think but didn’t bother viewing despite hearing it was good. Bad Jay! Haven’t located my Blu so I borrowed Ron’s since he recently watched it, which triggered me to want to watch it.

Damn, I love this movie and I’m sad that Andy Lau didn’t return to reprise the role in subsequent sequels, which I also like but none are as good as this one. As if I needed another reason to smitten all over again with Li Bingbing… probably a good thing I didn’t see this back in 2010 (would’ve annoyed Yumi). I didn’t “discover” Li Bingbing until her Resident Evil appearance two years later as Ada Wong but I’ve liked everything I’ve seen her in since. She’s great here in a large role supporting Lau as Dee. Her reveal is shakey since it questions all the events prior to that but I’m willing to forgive it bc this is some big Tsui Hark fantasy stuff.

I’m so glad I already own thi bc I will probably revisit around Chinese New Years just because. In fact, I wanna revisit all the DD films now.
