Kinda crazy yet no longer surprising that I didn’t recall a thing about this one. The upside: it really was like viewing for the first time. The story is not very good but the Yuen Woo-ping fight direction is fucking amazing. Full point added for putting Donnie Yen in here as the villain and those terrific fights with Jet Li.
Impressive and hard to believe that neither knew each other at the time. Another full point up for a nice role given to David Chiang and keeping Rosamund Kwan, who gets treated so badly in these films but is a total dime. She’s wonderful.
This transfer looks noticeably better than the previous film in this criterion collection.
