Been wanting to see this for a very long time! Lots of fun stuff here. When (I won’t accept “if”) this gets a proper restoration and release from 88 or Eureka it will be a first pick for movie night. Where to even start with my notes…
It features Shing Fui-On (Blue Jean Monster). There’s a giant framed photo on his living room wall of a woman in a revealing tank top and bikini bottoms. It’s amazing and I want it. Chow Yun-fat drinks on camera a glass of half dozen eggs. Then talks to a couple nearby his table that Ti Lung taught him how to be cool… then TI LUNG SHOWS UP AS A CHARACTER IN THIS MOVIE. A bar owner or something. It’s nuts. Gordon Liu is a hitman henchman with a terrible rug on his head. But it’s so weird to see him play second fiddle to Norman Chu. Late 80s HK cinema was wild, man.
My early Shaw fave David Chiang makes an appearance as the police commissioner. Again, small role and so sad given his history but happy to see him. There’s a lot more but would be spoilery to mention. I just need this to get restored and released with the sequel stat.
This was part of the DKUTV Year of the Tiger weekend programming to celebrate the lunar new year and year of the tiger. All the films are HK productions with “tiger” in the title.
