Decided to keep the B-fest theme going with this one which I didn’t even know existed until DKUTV programmed it tonight along with The Monolith Monsters, also a 1957 film. I didn’t watch the DKU broadcast instead just going with the decent version available on YT.
I’m surprise this movie doesn’t get more mention bc it’s basically the US attempting to take their own spin on Godzilla but in a much different way (alien invasion) yet still including a post-war nuclear scare sub-textually. The miniatures are great and goofy. The giant robot is even more goofy like a huge robot leg hopping around destroying everything. Would be good flick for B-Fest (better than The Brain That Wouldn’t Die, anyways).
