DKUTV is doing Itami double feature nights each Sunday to celebrate his birthday. This is cool bc they programmed stuff like this which can’t been seen elsewhere to my knowledge. This is Itami and his two muses Tsutomu Yamazaki and Nobuko Miyamoto (the two stars of TAMPOPO).

This is a black comedy that really would only resonate with Japanese ppl or those intimately familiar with the funeral process in Japan. Very subtle and dry humor but still quite entertaining. Now I really want to see an Itami film without either of these two actors… wonder if one exists. (They’re great actors I just wanna see Itami direct others in the lead roles)
