Continues the long standing tradition of presenting a good vs evil story in an overly complex fantasy wrapper. There’s a magic fruit and spirit animals and sorcery and more stuffed into this when it could be so much simpler. Also weird to produce a sequel 29 years after the original movie. At least they cast Gillian Chung and she’s still got it.
Far from a great film but I do give it props for collecting a group of attractive people and fully committing to these characters and story knowing it’s a bunch of folklore fantasy silliness. The cgi is adequate and I do love the scorpion and snake renderings.
