I like Vincent Zhao but wish Jet Li had remained with the series. At least they didn’t replace Rosamund Kwan; they just bring in Aunt 14 instead. This story, written by Tsui Hark, is on par with the previous installments but the charisma in the leads is missing. I do like the Red Lantern rebels and all the crazy setpieces. This really goes fantasy with some of the action that defies gravity.
Wong Fei-hung is a superhero in this. Billy Chow and Chin Ka-Lok are villains straight out of a Street Fighter 2 arcade game. So over the top ridiculous. Goofy movie but entertaining for all that bonkers action.
